We are so thankful and blessed to be celebrating our 100th anniversary (1921-2021) as God continues to connect our congregation to the people and community of Denton, Texas.
100th Anniversary Celebrations this October
SPECIAL SIX-WEEK WORSHIP SERIES Sundays 8:15 AND 10:45 am
BIBLE STUDY SERIES Sunday School 9:30 am
October 3 – Kingdom
The Kingdom of God is such an important reality for the members of the Christian Church. It is important to realize the Church is an outpost of the true kingdom in the midst of hostile territory.
October 10 – Culture
Christians are the citizens of a new kind of kingdom, one with a very different culture from the world around us. The question is how we can engage the culture around us without compromising the Gospel of the kingdom.
October 17 – Family Stability
There is no such thing as the “good old days”. The family is and has been under assault in every generation of human history though sometimes in less visible and more subtle ways. We must realign ourselves with the greater purposes of the kingdom in which family stability play a significant role.
October 24 – Human Dignity
As we continue to focus on the mission of the kingdom, we encounter specific issues in which we can bear witness for the gospel. One of these is the issue of human dignity which flows from the fact that people are made in God’s image. To honor God is to honor ALL people.
October 31 – Reformation – Mission
If the church is going to engage the culture without compromising the gospel, it is imperative that we should have a good understanding of our mission. The mission of the church helps us know where to expend our energy, focus our attention, and invest our resources. Without a firm sense of mission, the church will flounder in the culture rather than meaningfully engaging with it.
November 7 – Convictional Kindness
As we move into the culture and engage with others on important issues like the ones we have discussed above, it’s important that we focus on not only the content of our arguments but also on the tone with which we express ourselves. For Christians the tone is one of convictional kindness in our interactions with all people.
